Biomedical informatics with optimization and machine learning
EURASIP Journal on Bioinformatics and Systems Biology welcomes submissions to the new special issue on biomedical informatics with optimization and machine learning.
This special issue is dedicated to the inaugural International Workshop of Biomedical Informatics with Optimization and Machine Learning (BOOM) to be held in July 2016 in New York City in conjunction with the 25th International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI). A selected number of both methodology-driven and application-driven papers will be considered for publication, covering a broad spectrum of topics.
Potential topics include, but are not limited to:
Category I - Machine learning and optimization algorithms
- Newly-emerging machine learning and optimization methods applied to biomedical informatics
- Novel data-driven machine learning algorithms to address challenges and roadblocks in biomedical informatics, such as imbalanced datasets, weakly-structured or unstructured data, noisy and ambiguous labeling, etc.
- Novel numerical optimization algorithms for biomedical data that are large-scale, high-dimensional, and heterogeneous
- Classical machine learning topics such as clustering, classification, regression and dimension reduction, that find application values in newly-emerging biomedical informatics field
- Other closely-related topics, such as image processing, data mining, new computing technologies and paradigms (e.g., cloud computing), control theory, and system engineering

- Biomedical Informatics Applications
- Computational Biology, including advanced interpretation of critical biological findings, databases and cutting-edge computational infrastructure
- Clinical Informatics, including the scenarios of using computation and data for healthcare, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, and allied health
- Public Health Informatics, including studies on patients and populations to improve the public health system and to elucidate epidemiology
Before submitting your manuscript, please ensure you have carefully read the Instructions for Authors for EURASIP Journal on Bioinformatics and Systems Biology. The complete manuscript should be submitted through the submission system. To ensure that you submit to the correct special issue please select the appropriate section in the drop-down menu upon submission. In addition, indicate within your cover letter that you wish your manuscript to be considered as part of the special issue on biomedical informatics with optimization and machine learning. All submissions will undergo rigorous peer review and accepted articles will be published within the journal as a collection.
